about

Ilay Lalana ((The Way) is a composition by Malagasy multi-instrumentalist, arranger and composer Jax Ravel. He wrote it in the Tsapiky musical style, which is often associated with traditional ceremonies, particularly funerals in Madagascar. Jax wrote the song to play with Kenyan Fellow Ivy Alexander on bass and Cuban drummer . “The song and its melodies are one of the ways I chose to illustrate the life paths God had me go through and at the same time, it expresses the joyful thrill one feels when a challenge is successfully overcome (so, the obstacles are dead). That's why its title is Ilay Lalana which means ‘the way."
